The Laminex Group offers a product solution for nearly every interior application and surface including benchtops, counters, cabinets, doors and wall linings. In Australia, the Greenfirst range offers environmentally preferable products for almost every interior space, from the kitchen, to the office or even retail applications.
Products in the Greenfirst range have been certified by the independent verification office Good Environmental Choice Australia (GECA). The Laminex Group was the first manufacturer of wood panels and decorative laminates to have its products certified by GECA to the Australian Environmental Labelling Furniture and Fittings Standard.
The Good Environmental Choice label acknowledges a product as meeting or exceeding the voluntary environmental declaration standards. The Standard is a comprehensive, life-cycle based assessment, which is scientifically and internationally recognised.
Greenfirst products are also easily identified by their Green Star credits. Green Star is a comprehensive, national, voluntary environmental rating system that evaluates the environmental design and construction of buildings. Green Star was developed by the Green Building Council of Australia (GBCA) which promotes sustainable development and green building practices.
One Greenfirst product is Laminex’s FSC Timber Veneer Panels range which uses sustainable timber and is Forest Stewardship Council certified. Veneered panels are highly suitable for all detail joinery, with interior applications including high quality furniture, feature walls, shelving and kitchens.
The Laminex Group is committed to pursuing the highest standard of environmental performance, consistent with maintaining its market position as a leader of quality products and customer service.
This commitment to the environment is demonstrated through a range of activities including:
Laminex’s major manufacturing sites in Australia and New Zealand have achieved ISO 14001 certification, the international standard for environmental management systems
Independent life cycle analysis of its products and independent auditing of its manufacturing facilities
Initiatives targeting waste and emission reduction, resource conservation, recycling and sustainable development
Greater utilisation of wood waste as an input material into its products as well as discussions with the NSW Department of Environment and Climate Change to identify other reuse opportunities
- Member participation in a number of industry networks focused on minimising waste and maximising environmental sustainability.
Sydney’s Powerhouse Museum hosted a citywide design festival in August attended by about 30,000 people. To support the festival, Laminex coordinated the reuse of 5,000 off-range colour swatches to be utilised as key ring event passes. The reuse of the Laminex chips highlights the company’s commitment to sustainable design principles.
